Get A Grip On Your Gun

Although it’s important to me to live a natural life it doesn’t only extend to what I put in and on my body. I am a complex person and have many facets to my life. You’d be surprised to hear that I spent time in the military. Having a solid grip on your handgun can make all the difference in the world. The range is like a warm fuzzy bed, compared to real life. If you are in a situation when you need to draw and fire, then you need to make sure your grip is tight. There are many ways of achieving that, and that is what I will lay down today.running into battle

You don’t really know how you will react in a life-threatening situation, until you are there. It is the ancient “fight or flight” model, and it is true. In my time in the army, I saw people who choked when it was necessary to act. I saw others, who you wouldn’t think of as being too “badass”, take point and storm, right alongside their brothers in arms. You never know until you are there. And once you find yourself running and returning fire, you need to do it with confidence.

Getting A Good Grip

Civilian life is not the army, but these principles do apply. You need to have a solid grip, and a confident attitude. Many gun carriers choose to stipple their grips, or add external grips (like TALON or Robar) to their handgun. It can make a big difference, particularly for those who are not comfortable with their factory grips.

I am going to be talking about the Glock handgun (specifically, the model 19, 9mm compact). Glock’s factory grips are okay for some, but there are those who feel they have to add a grip. This really is very subjective, and it depends on the kind of Glock Generation, since some have finger grooves and grip textures, etc.

If you feel you need more confidence in your grip, you can either stipple the grip yourself with a soldering iron, or have it done professionally by someone else. You can also use an inner tube from a bicycle and shrink it with heat. Whatever fits your own hand’s mold the best – that is what you should go for. Or, if you are happy with your factory grip, good for you.robar

Take into account that when you do need to fire, conditions may not resemble those of a firing range. In fact, you can pretty much bet that it will be absolutely nothing like the firing range. Your hands may be sweaty, or covered in rain, or mud, or blood. You may be shaking from the tension, or experiencing some kind of other physical symptom. It happens. I have seen it happen more than once.

This is precisely the reason why grips like TALON (my personal favorite is the granulate kind) were invented. It gives the shooter an extra edge, because you never know when you are going to need to fire. TALONs go on easy, and are effective and relatively inexpensive.

You could have the world’s best handgun in your possession, but it is only as good as the hand that is gripping it. Do it any way you want, use whatever brand you like – but make sure that one way or another, your hand is sitting tight on that weapon. It could mean your ass.

Why I Use Purple Shampoo

long blonde hairBeing raised In a hippy household meant that we grew our hair long and listened to some great music. There is a much-loved Frank Zappa song titled “The Purple Lagoon”. I think of that little ditty pretty often. Just about any time I apply purple shampoo to my hair. I open that bottle cap, and the opening guitar riff just plays in my head, seemingly out of nowhere.

Much like Zappa himself, purple shampoo is a miracle worker. It is designed for those of us who “suffer” from overly-yellow tones taking over our lighter hair. Brassy tones can appear in blonde hair once a dye job is starting to fade, or when your hair is in the sun for too long a time.

Regardless, one day you wake to find that the yellow is beginning to take over. Getting your hair redone is not always the greatest option, for a variety of reasons, so the best thing to do is to start using purple shampoo.

What is purple shampoo?

Essentially, it is a shampoo which has in it purple color agents, and those are used to “hide” the brassy yellow color. This is achieved because yellow and purple are on opposite sides of the color range. Thus, when one is applied to the other, they cancel each other out, leaving your hair lighter.

You need to be careful, though, because purple shampoo is, well, purple. It may stain any clothing or towels which it encounters, so you have to be prepared.

The recommended method of use for this kind of shampoo, is to apply twice in succession. Once for 5-10 minutes, and then, after rinsing, re-apply for a shorter period of time. Don’t overuse the shampoo, though. It should not be used daily, because if overused it can seep into the hair and dye it purple. Unless that is your goal – and, I assure you, I will have nothing but respect for you if it is – you should avoid using it more than once a week. Twice, max.

blondes do have more funSo, is the age-old idiom true? Do blondes have more fun? The answer is yes. A resounding yes. Heck – we even get to put purple shampoo in our hair. Take that, world!

Purple shampoo, people. I have a feeling that Zappa would approve. Check out another great purple shampoo article I found here and Mapleholistics.com.

Why You Should Only Use Natural

Hippy FamI grew up in a hippy household. For those of you who don’t know what that means I’ll explain. My parents were all about sharing and caring for each other and the environment. That meant growing our own food from fruits to vegetables. It also meant wearing clothes made out of organic material like hemp or flax. Lastly we used mostly natural soaps and household cleaners that were made out of organic natural chemicals that were and are safe for the environment.

To say the least I was indoctrinated in the life of living a natural life. This to me was and is a blessing. I have found a greater appreciation for the people and the world around me. It enables me to feel closer to our mother earth and my fellow man.

One of my favorite natural products are essential oils. People tend to look over the natural healing properties of essential oils. Aromatherapy is based on these properties, that certain oils react with our bodies and brains in certain ways creating a positive effect. For instance lavender oil is one of the most well-known oils. It’s famous for its ability to relieve stress and give the user an overall sense of wellbeing.

I use lavender oil in many different ways. My favorite use is to put a couple of drops into a running bath. The running water acts like a waterfall and mixes in the oil filling the bathroom with the amazing scent of lavender.

power of oilsThere are so many other great essential oils such as rosemary, jojoba, and argan oils. They all do amazing things for your body, hair and mind. But essential oils aren’t the only natural product I like to use. Most people don’t realize the amount of harmful chemicals their shampoo’s and hand soaps have. These chemicals are not only harmful to our health but to our environment. That is why I love to go to my local market and buy homemade soaps form friends I trust. I know that they only use the best and the safest ingredients.

So you can see why I’ve started a site called naturalcosmeticsusa.com It’s the way I was raised but even further It’s the way I lead my life and I want to share my knowledge with all of you!
